Social commitment has been an important part of the corporate culture at Möller for over a hundred years. Back in 1879, the brothers Theodor Adolf von Möller and Dr Karl Möller established Stiftung Möllerstift, a foundation to help sick and elderly people. The foundation established and supported a hospital in the south of Bielefeld for four decades before being handed over to the city in 1952. Since then, Stiftung Möllerstift has been involved in numerous social projects.
The emphasis has been on developing and initiating projects to support socially disadvantaged persons and running those projects in an exemplary manner – in part with local partners. Besides financial support, it is also often personal commitment that has influence on the projects. Today, the chairman of the board of trustees is Dr Peter von Möller, the great-great-grandson of the two founders.
